Uropartners is fortunate to welcome Sarah Murfey to their growing practice. Her excellent credentials include Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner and a Master of Science in Nursing from St. Xavier University. Sarah has an impressive 12 years of nursing experience including 3 years as an ICU nurse. Working under the supervision of Dr. Cudecki and Dr. Gomez, she sees patients while making rounds at the hospital and at follow-up visits in the office. She also writes prescriptions. We invite you to join our Prostate Cancer Support group for men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The group meets the second Wednesday of every other month at 7:00 pm. In this confidential setting we offer:
- Information about Prostate Cancer and the latest treatment options.
- Open discussion about coping, adjusting, and problem solving.
- Opportunity to share experiences and feelings in an atmosphere of respect and sensitivity.
- Emotional support for those men who have recently been diagnosed, are undergoing treatment, or have completed their treatment.
- A time for men to gather together for inspiration, information, education, and camaraderie.
PROSTATE CANCER TREATMENT
UroPartners is the only community-based urology group in the Chicagoland area to have access to a new, breakthrough treatment for certain men with advanced prostate cancer who have limited treatment options. PROVENGE, an FDA-approved vaccine, is designed to work differently than hormone therapy or chemotherapy. As an autologous cellular immunotherapy, this treatment uses cells from a patient's own immune system to identify and attack prostate cancer cells.
Treatment with PROVENGE includes three doses given approximately two weeks apart. After three infusions, treatment with PROVENGE is complete. Potential reactions include fever and flu-like symptoms, but the procedure is generally well-tolerated.
